POLICIES & INFORMATION

ATTENDANCE:  Attendance is taken at each class and awards are given out at the dance recital to each dancer who has perfect attendance. Please make every effort to have your child at every class. Good attendance is imperative, as absences and tardiness can hold back an entire class.

SITTING OUT:  If a student is unable to dance, but is feeling well enough to attend class, they are expected to participate by observing class in order to retain key elements and new choreography. Students who feel ill or are exhibiting “contagious” symptoms should stay home and rest.

CODE OF CONDUCT:  All dancers at Ave Maria Dance Academy are expected to treat their instructors as well as each other with respect, support and encouragement. Instructors reserve the right to dismiss dancers for distracting the class, not following rules, improper dress, or poor attitude.

DANCE CLASS ATTIRE: Students must wear proper dance attire to class - dress code requirements can be found HERE.  For uniformity all dance shoes must be purchased from us.  PLEASE DON’T SEND DANCERS IN TUTUS OR DRESSES THAT SHED GLITTER!

DISCIPLINE CARDS: Your child may receive a ‘discipline card’ from their instructor. These cards are not meant to offend anyone but rather gently remind. Please fix the infraction indicated on the card.

STUDIO CLOSURES:  Ave Maria Dance Academy generally follows the public school schedule. Please check our website's schedule for the entire season’s schedule.

CLASS OBSERVATION: We do not allow parents into the studio during classes. This rule is in place so that students can remain uninterrupted and focused on their dance training. Photo opportunities (with instructor permission) are possible but must be done in a timely manner and persons must leave the studio quickly afterwards.  Beginning in April (at the discretion of the instructor) we invite parents into the studio at the end of class to observe the dancers perform their dance recital pieces.

DANCE RECITAL:  The spring dance recital will be held in May at Gulf Coast H.S.  The recital theme and date will be announced in the fall.  Assigned seating tickets ($15 each) will be sold in March.

IMPORTANT STUDIO RULES:
- DANCE SHOES should not be worn on the street not even “just” from the car to the studio.
- IF you arrive early for your class, please WAIT OUTSIDE until the class in session is dismissed.
- DANCERS must be picked up promptly following classes; once dancers are dismissed there is no one to watch them in the waiting room. We are not responsible for watching children before or after class.
- ALWAYS send a bottle of water (ONLY WATER) with your dancer or ¢.50 to purchase a small bottle.
- NO gum chewing!  PLEASE do not bring gum, food, or drinks (other than water) inside the building.
- HAIR must be pulled back off of the neck and face for all classes, loose strands must be secured.
- NO jewelry (except for stud earrings)
- NO one is allowed in class other than the dancers.
- PLEASE have your child (especially 3 to 6 year old's) use the restroom before leaving home.
- SHOES (which must be purchased from us) and proper dance attire is required for all classes.
- ANY accounts with declined credit cards will be charged a $10 late fee after the 7th day of the month.
- PARENTS should call (239-261-2606) ahead of time to let us know if a student will not be in class.
- WE ask that you do not attempt conversations with your child's instructor between classes as this will cause schedule delays. Arrangements to speak with instructors must be made at the front desk.

What Our Clients Are Saying

"My children have been attending classes at Ave Maria Dance Academy three times a week since October 2013. We were considering several dance studios at that time and I'm so glad we chose this one! My children could not be happier. It is a very kid friendly environment with professional, talented and very dedicated staff. The last year spring recital was heads and shoulders above the rest in Naples area. We look forward to the next one!"  ~Ines P.
