National Dance Day was created by Nigel Lythgoe, executive producer and judge for the So You Think You Can Dance television series to promote dance education and physical fitness across the U.S. with the ultimate goal of getting dance recognized as a sport.
Started in 2010 National Dance Day has been an annual event and "grassroots initiative to encourage the nation, young and old, to get up and move!"
This year, National Dance Day is Saturday, July 27th and Ave Maria Dance Academy is celebrating by offering FREE dance classes all day from 9:00am - 5:00pm.
At 3:30pm our instructors will teach the official National Dance Day routines: an “Everybody Dance” routine for people of all levels of ability, and a “Hip-Hop Master Class” created by SYTYCD choreographers Napoleon and Tabitha Dumo for those who want to challenge themselves. If you plan on attending the 3:30pm Master Classes and you have some time on your hands – use the orange links above to start to learn the choreography on your own!
So please spread the word and bring all of your friends out for this ‘Dancetastic Day’ beginning at 9:00am on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Ave Maria Dance Academy!
THERE'S NO NEED TO REGISTER FOR NATIONAL DANCE DAY! JUST SHOW UP AND DANCE!
If you have dance clothes and dance shoes (such as jazz or hip hop sneakers) - bring them along! If not - no worries! Simply wear comfortable clothes and sneakers.
