DANCE RECITAL INFORMATION

PARTICIPATION
Participation in the end of the year dance recital is not mandatory;
it is strongly encouraged however and is considered an important
part of the overall dance experience. 

Dancing is a performing art and the performance is the highlight of a
dancer's experience, something for them to look forward to and to strive for.

Being part of a performance helps build self-esteem
and self-confidence and gives students a chance
to showcase the results of all of their hard work, dedication, and progress.

All of our students, regardless of level, are
invited to perform in our annual recital.
 
The rehearsal process is also a tremendous learning experience as well.
It helps the children develop retention skills, and by working with their
classmates on a group performance, they learn the positive aspects of working
as a team to create the best end result.

The anticipation and excitement will build each week as the performance date
nears and although partiality is not shown in classes towards dancers who choose
not to participate they inevitably will begin to feel left out.

COMMITMENT

The spring dance recital is held in May at the Palmetto Ridge High School.  

The dress rehearsal will be scheduled the day before the dance recital. 
Your child's class will have a designated time for dress rehearsal. Younger children
will be scheduled earlier and older children will be scheduled later.  
 
The day & times of the dress rehearsal and dance recital will be provided in November.  If you commit your child to participate in the annual dance recital they will be required to be present at the mandatory dress rehearsal in order to perform in the dance recital.

The dance recital is an exciting time but it is also an important commitment. 
If your child misses more than 5 classes after January they
will not be permitted  to participate in the dance recital.

Recital participation forms will be handed out the first week
in November in which you will be asked to indicate if your dancer will 
or will not be participating.  If you choose to participate your  form must be
returned no later than December 1st along with the full costume payment for
each class in which your child will be performing.

RECITAL FEE

The recital fee which is $30/dancer is due with the March tuition payment. 
The recital fee covers: auditorium rental, custodian fee, sound and tech. operator fee, program and ticket printing, music licensing, and insurance protection.

Dancers, who sell $50 or more in ads, will not have to pay a recital fee;
those choosing not to sell ads will be required to pay the $30 recital fee.

The high seller of dance recital program ads will receive a tuition
FREE year in any dance class of your choice.

COSTUMES

Students will learn a different recital routine for each class they are enrolled in; students in multiple classes are encouraged to participate in the performance of each of their classes.  There will be a different costume associated with each class. 

Children will be measured for their costumes the first week of November. 

Costumes will be ordered by the Dance Academy by mid-December
to ensure delivery in time for the dance recital.   
Costume fees are due on or before December 1st. 
Combo Classes-----$65  
All  Other Classes-----$70   
Prices include tights and any necessary accessories.  
 Costume payments may be turned in anytime from
September to December 1st but must be paid in full in one payment.

If your child is in the Wee Dance or the Ballet/Tap Combo class we will be
purchasing a 2-in-1 costume for the dancers and the price will be $65.oo total. 
Students enrolled in individual classes (i.e. tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop, modern or lyrical etc.) will require one costume per class. 

Dancers who enroll after December 1st are required to pay the costume
payment at the time of registration.  Costumes ordered after December 15th
will incur additional shipping fees.

Once costumes have been ordered - if you drop out of the recital but remain in class, you will receive your costume when they are given out in class in mid-May. 
No refunds will be made after 12/15/2011.  

If you have enrolled in the dance recital & drop out of that dance class,
you may pick up your costume after the recital date.  All costumes not picked
up by the end of June will become the property of the Dance Academy
